Photo: Don't you just love the smell of those fall scented candles and the beautiful and warm colors of autumn?!

I have to admit, Sharon tempts me to write really SHORT blog posts.  It looks so easy from where I sit, to post a quick picture and a few words on Facebook like she does (so well and so often!).  But today, I want to write about a product that I have been trying for the past few weeks, and let me tell you, I am impressed. And when I am impressed, I want to let you know about it!

I follow a few blogs when I am not too busy to sit at my computer and read, and I have been reading a LOT about Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. It appeared to be so easy (dummy proof as one merchant told me!), and the end results were really fabulous, so I decided to try it. I searched the Eastern Shore far and wide for a retailer, and found none.  I had passed it up on a trip to Northern Virginia this spring because I wasn't convinced I wanted to try it at that point, but got online after my failed search and found a retailer in Southern Maryland so I sucked it up and ordered it online, and paid the shipping that I was hoping to avoid.

I was really excited to receive my package in just a few days, and tried my first piece immediately.  It was the music cabinet I posted a picture of yesterday.  On this piece, I first painted cream, then the second coat was Aubusson Blue.  A little distressing, then a coat of Annie Sloan dark wax completed my project.  It is dummy proof, but it is a long process. And this paint is not cheap, but I think it is worth it. I am really happy with the results.

Since then, I have painted several more pieces, purchased more paint in Walkersville at a sweet store called Wild Rose and Company, and just ordered 3 more cans of wax! I have put 3 pieces of furniture in my booths painted with Annie Sloan and SOLD THEM ALL! So, let me tell you, Annie Sloan is my new BFF! There are 2 pieces in the upcoming barn sale that are painted with Annie Sloan...see if you can tell which ones NEXT WEEK! Thought I'd show you the piece I'm working on now, a waterfall dresser from the 40's, with it's first coat of cream.

These details on the edge will be sanded/distressed...that's something that works really well with this paint. I'll post pics of the end results when I get finished...going to paint the 2nd coat this morning, then waiting on my order of wax to finish!

Hope you all have a great day. The barn is ALMOST ready...just tweaking a few things, and putting on more price tags! See ya.......................

Photo: We have been doing quite a bit of painting in preparation for the fall sale. Paint can greatly change the look of something and we love the challenge. Check out this cute little cabinet that Patti painted....
This sweet cabinet may have been a music cabinet in it's previous life, but I can see it set up as a bar...holding your wine glasses, etc. The top two doors open down and create  a shelf (sort of!)
Photo: Have you tried mixing primitive and dressy decor?
Sharon and I are both loving the gray area with vivid orange accents
Photo: Hope you like crocks and bowls because we have MANY...
Love these old bowls!

Photo: Check out this 'beyond cool' fruit picking bucket. Patti found this in her antiquing travels recently. I had never seen one of these. It actually has straps on it so you just strap it on and start picking!
Back in the gray/white/orange area you will find this fruit picking bucket with straps...just in case you want a new career!

Photo: Hi friends...OMGOSH...we worked so hard again this weekend putting the final touches on the upstairs area of the barn...but it was FUN!!! Now my dilemma...I took SOOOOOO many pictures today I don't even know which ones to show you first for your preview viewing pleasure...LOL. Bear with me because I may become a nuisance over the next TEN days...yes, only 10 days until opening night of the fall barn sale...SO SO EXCITED:-)
The sign is out, folks!  We are getting really close to Barn Sale day #1...hope it's on your calendar!

Morning, All
Hope you are having a good week.  I am...busy, but getting so much accomplished, and I'm getting SO excited about the sale!  The sneak peek, and very first night of barn sale bliss, is two weeks from last night. We will be open on Thursday evening from 5-9pm, and charging a $5  admission, which will be donated to the American Heart Association.
If you can't make it on Thursday night, you have four other opportunities to attend.  We will be open Friday the 7th and Saturday the 8th, plus the next weekend, Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th, from 9am until 5pm all four days.
With that business covered this morning, I will fill you in on a little secret. For the first time EVER, my favorite area of the barn is NOT upstairs this time (that may still change after we work up there this weekend, who knows...). It is downstairs.  Not going to tell you which room yet, you'll have to guess!

Sharon picked up this cool Maytag washer in PA a few weeks ago

This washer came from a mud sale two years ago.  I had every intentinon to use it myself but was never able to come up with a good place to put it...my laundry room is space impaired!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I'll post more pics next week!

Photo: OK...finally a picture...my 19 year old son, Nick, was nice enough to allow me to download the pics on his laptop, so I will beg and borrow from him over the next 4 weeks in order to show you pics from our fall barn sale. This is an old S&H Green Stamp store sign that we found at a recent antiques auction in PA.
Remember these?  We got Green Stamps when I was a little girl.  Seeing this sign really brings back memories! Sharon picked up this sign at a recent Pennsylvania auction and it will be for sale at the Barn Sale.  Do you have a place for it  : )  ?

IS SUMMER REALLY DRAWING TO A CLOSE? DOES SCHOOL REALLY START NEXT WEEK IN SOME COUNTIES? NOOOOOOO!

Hi, Everyone!
Can you believe that summer is ALMOST OVER? Boo Hoo! It seems that summer has really flown by this year. Sharon and I vowed to work in the barn at least once a week during her summer break from school, and I think we stuck by our vow. But...the work is not done yet. We have, however, gotten a LOT of the heavy lifting (both literally and figuratively) done, and we are up to the really fun part. We started arranging some smalls upstairs last week (worked two days in the barn last week!) and we will continue that tomorrow.
We are still shopping, of course, and we will add new things to all of the rooms as we purchase them. We are in communication with our vendors for the two Saturdays, September 8th and 15th, and we will hopefully have a list for you soon.
Since I could not find a good picture of the current sale and the progress we are making, I decided to remind you how happy the sale makes you. See the smiles on these ladies' faces? I think they speak volumes!!!
